Business Development Associate

Location: Bogota, Colombia

Are you interested in a career that involves business development in a consulting infrastructure firm? Do you want to learn and gain insights about infrastructure projects worldwide in the energy, water, transport, and climate change sectors?  Do you have the ability to write clearly and communicate in a compelling way?

If so, we are looking for someone to help Castalia win high-value, high-impact work by contributing to our response to procurements from international agencies and governments in various countries. Write, proofread and edit documents and blog posts highlighting our service offerings and experience. Prepare compelling marketing presentations for our private sector clients and help train other Castalia staff on business development activities. Support with marketing campaigns and social media engagement across all online platforms. Keep our business development information systems and processes updated and continuously improving.

Duties for this role:

Business Development (70%)

  • Respond to business opportunities, in particular by:
    • Preparing Expressions of Interest for suitable public procurement opportunities
    • Contributing to Proposals in various ways, including by: preparing company qualifications sections; identifying suitable team members and preparing their CVs for inclusion in the proposal; assisting with costing; managing overall proposal preparation; ensuring compliance with all tender requirements; proof- reading, and submitting proposals
  • Keep business development tools and information complete, correct and current
  • Prepare business development data analytics reports to measure and track progress against BD and marketing targets
  • Prepare high impact marketing presentations showcasing Castalia’s service offerings and expertise, for both private and public clients

Compliance (20%)

  • Maintain and track registrations to procurement portals
  • Prepare and update corporate and administrative documents to respond to public procurement notices
  • Identify and prepare compliance documents and registrations for competitive procurement notices for institutional clients

General (10%)

  • Improving our business development approach, by
    • Identifying opportunities to improve how we do business development and marketing
    • Working with managers and others to develop and implement improvements
    • Train and coach others in following our business development approaches successfully
    • Assist the BD Manager with ad-hoc BD tasks as required

Who we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a similar field
  • At least 1 year working experience
  • Experience in document preparation, including proofreading, and formatting
  • Highly proficient in English—writes succinctly and persuasively, in plain English with ability to translate complex concepts/commentary into easily understandable written/spoken words
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to translate content into a compelling and high-quality presentation materials.
  • Gets things done, delivers on commitments, self-starter
  • Detail oriented and ability to follow procurement processes
  • Supportive of others, a team player, and with good communication skills
  • Highly attentive to detail

We’d love if you have:

  • Experience preparing Proposals, preferably for a professional services firm in a public-procurement environment
  • Experience with international agencies, such as the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank
  • Proficiency in the use of graphic design as a marketing tool
  • Experience with website content management and publishing (e.g. WordPress)
  • Creative thinking

This is a full-time position based at our office in Bogota, Colombia.
