Jamaica Renewables Tender

The problem

WRB Enterprises, a Florida-based company, wanted to bid into Jamaica’s renewable energy tender, but was not familiar with the Jamaican regulatory environment.

How we helped

Castalia advised WRB on regulatory and political risks and how they could be mitigated. We also identified a suitable site close to a sub-station, managed the environmental assessment of the site, and assisted with site acquisition.

Impact

WRB’s bid was successful, enabling the company to build Jamaica’s first utility-scale solar PV facility, the 20 MW Content Solar plant, which commenced commercial operations in August 2016.
