Pipeline of Climate-friendly Municipal Infrastructure Investments, Peru
IFC wanted to support strategic, bankable infrastructure projects that provided sustainable, reliable, and competitive services to Peru’s cities with the goal of addressing rapidly increasing urban populations and mitigating GHG emissions. The sectors included energy, transport, green buildings, water, waste, and telecommunications.
How Castalia helped
Developed a project pipeline based on market research into municipal utilities and planned infrastructure projects in Peruvian cities
Evaluated all projects through a cashflow analysis
Identified legal and financial requirements for private sector participation
Developed a business case for five projects in Lima and Arequipa to receive IFC support and presented the cases to public and private municipal stakeholders.
The outcome of our work
IFC offered to finance two investment projects proposed by SEDAPAL (Lima’s municipal water utility).
