As an Economic and Financial Analyst in Castalia’s Australia and Southeast Asia team, Ian works to alleviate bottlenecks in the provision of public goods, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and social services.
Before joining Castalia, Ian worked on investment climate and business regulatory issues as a consultant to the World Bank’s Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment Global Practice in Washington, DC. He has also worked on environmental sustainability and financing for development initiatives as an attaché at the UK Mission to the UN in New York.
Ian is motivated by opportunities to foster positive social and organizational change through data-driven insights and thought leadership.
What’s your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is “The Great Escape: Health, Wealth, and the Origins of Inequality” by Angus Deaton. It explains why some countries are so much richer than others, and what we should do to close the gap.
What has been your favorite place that you’ve traveled to?
I am an avid diver, so Malapascua in the Philippines has to be at the top of my list.
If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Probably viticulture–Australia has the perfect climate for it!
