Nonito Bernardo
Principal, Southeast Asia
Nonito finds meaning in helping countries meet their development and energy transition goals by facilitating private infrastructure investments.
Nonito is the Principal, Southeast Asia for Castalia’s Asia-Pacific practice. He has more than 25 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with expertise in public-private partnerships (PPPs), project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and privatization.
Prior to Castalia, Nonito was a Senior Investment Officer with the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) CTA department, which provides PPP Transaction Advisory and Corporate Finance services. Prior to IFC, he was CFO of the Philippines State Owned Enterprise dealing with privatizations in the power sector, where he structured and closed large divestments/asset sales and was primarily responsible for financing, liability management, and risk mitigation. Prior to that, he worked with investment banks Lehman Brothers (Corporate Finance/M&A in power/energy) and SBC Warburg (Project Finance and financial advisory in energy and utilities). Between his banking experiences, he worked with a private sponsor/power developer, Southern Energy.
Nonito is always inspired by the challenge of looking for mutually beneficial schemes and solutions between government clients and private investors in a long-term public-private partnership.
