Valuation of Provo Water Company Shares, Turks and Caicos

The problem

The Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands was seeking to sell its shares in Provo Water Company, which provides water supply and sewerage to the Providenciales Island. However, the government did not have the tools to determine the fair value of its shares in the company.

How we helped

We valued the government’s shares in Provo Water Company, the utility that supplies water on Providenciales island. To do this, we proposed an appropriate valuation approach to the government and developed a suitable financial model. In addition, we carried out due diligence on the company’s market and operations.

Impact

The government sold Provo Water Company for close to the value we estimated, even though the buyer’s advisor had provided a much lower estimate of the company’s value. This result was possible because of the strength of our analysis.
