Alex Sundakov
Executive Director
Alex leads Castalia’s capital and investment advisory work.
This includes due diligence of infrastructure investment opportunities and transaction advice on PPP projects in the transport, energy, water and health sectors. He is also an expert witness in regulatory and competition policy cases in different jurisdictions.
Alex joined Castalia after a career spanning the New Zealand Treasury, the International Monetary Fund, and serving as Chief Executive of the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (an economics think tank). He has served as a member of the New Zealand Medical Council and the New Zealand National Infrastructure Advisory Board.
Alex is passionate about communicating complex ideas and information in their simplest and most direct form, ensuring that all decisions are based on clear understanding of objectives, risks and consequences.

What is one cool fact about your culture and heritage?
I spent the early years of my life in the Soviet Union, grew up and finished school in New Zealand, was educated in the UK and have lived and worked in the US and Australia
